Sensex, Nifty Begin on a Positive Note!!
NEW DELHI: Benchmark indices opened on a flat note on Friday, following global cues after a delay in voting on a healthcare bill to exchange Obamacare bill in the US casted doubts over the power of the Trump administration to satisfy his election promises.
Reports recommended that Trump would attempt to strike a deal with Republican lawmakers on Obamacare in a high-stakes vote rescheduled for Friday.
At 9.20 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 42 points, or 0.14 per cent, higher at 29,374. ICICI Bank BSE 2.86 % rose 1.67 per cent to Rs 271.50 and was the top index gainer. Bharti Airte lBSE 0.93 %, Coal India BSE 0.41 % and ITC BSE 1.24 % gained up to 1.5 per cent.
The NSE barometer inched up 7.25 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 9,093.55. The index briefly traded above 9,100 level in the opening trade. India VIX, the fear guage, fell 1 percentage points to 11.7.
